Walker Russell, Jr. (born October 6, 1982) is an American professional basketball player. He played with the Fort Worth Flyers in 2006-07 and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. In 2008-09, Russell averaged 16.1 points and 10.8 assists per game. In October 2010, the Mad Ants announced Russell Jr. would return for the 2010-11 season.[1] In 2007, he signed with the New York Knicks and played with the team during training camp before being cut prior to the regular season. A native of Pontiac, Michigan[2], he played collegiately for Chipola Junior College in Florida[3] and Jacksonville State University.[4]
Russell is the son of former NBA player Walker Russell, who played six seasons in the NBA during the 1980s.[4]
In 2011, Russell Jr. signed with the Detroit Pistons to compete for a spot on the team during training camp. Prior to signing with the Piston, Russell Jr. earned Player of the Week honors while playing with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League.[5] He has since been waived by the Pistons and will be re-joing the Mad Ants.
